Want to join The Weird Kids team?

The Situation - in a Nutshell:

I am a one-woman publishing house. I used to take in more work, then I semi-retired. But then I was handed a project so good I couldn't say no, so I dived back in. The project I joined is lovingly called The Weird Kids. It's a series of books that my now-dear-friend Laura Palmer has written.

We had a most wonderful team at the outset - me, Laura, and our dear friend and illustrator, Adrianne. The book we recently published is the beautiful result of that initial team. Most unfortunately, Adrianne is no longer here with us in physical form. There was a tragic accident, and poof she was gone. (Laura posted this lovely message at the time.)

Since then, we have been playing around with various options as to how to proceed. There are up to seven more books in this series. And possibly more.

In our ideal world, we would find a new person to be the illustrator. Someone who could take the existing book as a starting place - and maintain a somewhat consistent look and feel. We don't expect anyone to copy Adrianne's style, but we do want to end up with something that is visually similar enough that it is not an abrupt change for our readers. 

So, if you happen to be an illustrator - or know someone who is - take a look at the flipbook on this site. If it's an intriguing idea, contact me.

And...

We are also looking for a marketing person, someone who can develop and implement a marketing (information sharing) plan on a shoestring budget. Someone that will get our books into the hands and hearts of everyone who needs them. (That's our core mission.) We know the need is great. And we know these books will help. 

This is a passion project. We have a lot of fun, and there are so many opportunities to get creative.
