A lot of my work is whole brain creative.
Which means I play with words AND images.
Color AND layout.
I aim to make abstract concepts accessible,
to hold the big picture
and drill down on the details.
Because it all matters.
++++
Here is a fairly recent example.
(I'll post more in the coming weeks.)
The request was to create a graphic to be inserted in an ebook.
(I also designed two ebooks for this client,
Don Berg of Deeper Learning Advocates.)
Don provided the image above (plus additional pages)
and asked me to make it easier on the eyes.
This graphic brings together a complex array of concepts
fundamental to Don's core philosophy.
We culled it down to the most essential elements
and gave the entire graphic a better balance
of content and empty space
to make it easier to read.
As always, this was a collaborative edit
with several rounds of review
until he was happy with the outcome.
Note: This graphic also works in greyscale (b/w)
which was needed for some older ebook devices,
and it was legible in all test variations on the
Coblis Color Blindness Simulator.
Still complex, but not so overwhelming.
Outcome: engaged curiosity
